News New: Client/Server Version Corporate Planner C/S A quantum leap in system architecture is promised by the new Client/Server version of Corporate Planner which is currently being tested and will be available for the users in the next few weeks.Considerable improvements are to be expected, particularly with regard to multi-user operation. There is to be a strict separation of data and business logic. Computer processing, at present still carried out to a large extent by the client computer, will in future be a matter for the server, which will substantially reduce the required performance of the client computer. Controlled from a central CP application server, the web-based CP-Web and CP-Cockpit, the dashboard designed for managers, can also be supplied with data directly. Another new development is that Corporate Planner C/S can be implemented both as a file version and as a database version. The customer decides which of the two versions to use, and migration of existing data to a database is a fully automated process which requires very little additional effort. Corporate Planner C/S contains further ergonomic and functional improvements. The new Import / Integration Wizard enables the user to create a link-up to [back]-office systems in a straightforward manner. A new credit management module improves the handling of loans. Loan items can be sorted and arranged according to pre-defined categories. For instance, loans could perhaps be sorted by lender (bank), due date, interest, instalments, term or any other user-defined categories. The user can thus obtain a very clear overview of the current and future borrowing volume and is consequently in a position to manage the corporate policy on loans with added flexibility. Furthermore, once individual evaluations and analyses (views) have been generated, they can be saved so that they are accessible and up to date at all times, and can be transferred directly to external programs (MS Excel, XML format). Functions comparable to these are also provided by a new asset management module which has likewise been integrated in Corporate Planner C/S. Here, too, fixed assets can be sorted, arranged into groups and evaluated in terms of user-defined criteria. Regarding the client, operating the application as a database is very much the same as when working with the file version. Users will require no additional training. To install the server module, however, knowledge of network administration will be necessary. [back] |
