i+R Gruppe GmbH

Three Questions for Markus Peter Schaub

    What was your starting point?
The implementation of the software became necessary in 2012 following significant changes in the ownership structures within the group. Our main objectives were to carry out the initial consolidation without delay and to prepare for subsequent consolidations so that consolidated financial statement figures could be delivered quickly and transparently.

    What are your highlights?
The support of the Corporate Planning software has proved indispensable, especially for the consolidated entity, which has grown over the years to include almost 100 companies. Thanks to its familiar look and feel and by using its tried and tested functionalities, this is where we've been able to save time. Our previous Excel solution turned out to be error-prone and simply unsuitable for handling such large amounts of complex data. As well as providing the required auditability, the Corporate Planning software won us over with its outstanding functionality in the multi-stage selection process. In particular, the time-consuming process of eliminating the intercompany liabilities and the intercompany expenses is now more efficient. Its user interface design is excellent, as is the way in which subgroups are configured and their intercompany investments eliminated.

    What lessons have you learned?
The lessons we have learned serve to emphasize the importance of careful planning in relation to time and resources. Our advice to other companies facing similar challenges would be to allow sufficient time and capacity and to bring in an experienced project team as well as professionals such as those at Corporate Planning. These factors help to ensure that the implementation processes run smoothly and to maximize the benefits of the software solution.

"Our decision to purchase the Corporate Planning software in 2012 turned out to be strategically wise, particularly in the context of our annual consolidation according to Austrian local GAAP and our somewhat challenging intermediate holding company and subgroup structures in the DACH region and CEE."
